KUCHING, April 11 — Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen today wrote to Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem asking him not to bar entry to opposition leaders from the peninsula who were visiting for legitimate political activities.

“I am writing this letter to him in anticipation of more opposition figures to be barred [sic] from entering Sarawak before polling in the state elections,” he told reporters today.

“I urge your good self to reverse such a decision to impose a blanket ban on opposition figures from Pakatan Harapan from travelling to Sarawak to help opposition candidates in their campaign in the state elections,” he said.

Chong, who is also Bandar Kuching federal lawmaker, said a search from the Immigration website indicated that more than 20 DAP federal lawmakers and senior party leaders are to be prohibited from travelling to Sarawak.

“They have been asked to refer to the nearest Immigration Office (on the travel ban),” he said, declining to confirm whether DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang and secretary general and Penang Chief Minister are among those on the blacklist.

Among the opposition figures who have been prohibited from entering Sarawak are Tony Pua, Teresa Kok, Teo Nie Ching, Chua Tian Chiang, Nurul Izzah Anwar, Rafizi Ramli and Mohamad Sabu.
