KOTA BARU, April 2 ― Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad does not have the right to send an open letter to Umno branch chiefs nationwide, says Kelantan Umno deputy Liaison chief Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub.
“He has no right to send letters to any Umno member because he is no longer a member of Umno,” he told reporters after opening a grouped branch meeting of the Kota Baharu Umno division here, last night.
The meeting, which was attended by about 800 delegates, was also attended by Kota Baru Umno division chief Datuk Mohd Fatmi Che Salleh.
Dr Mahathir had sent an open letter to Umno branch chiefs nationwide via his blog last month among others urging them to reject the leadership of Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Ahmad Jazlan said although Dr Mahathir was party president for 22 years, he had no right to interfere in Umno 's business after leaving the party.
“What right has he got to advise Umno members. Let Umno solves its problems in its own way.
“It is clear to me that we cannot accept him after he was in cahoot with DAP leaders especially (its adviser) Lim Kit Siang. Umno will not accept DAP ever,” he added. ― Bernama
