KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 — The home ministry has not appointed any agent to implement the Illegal Immigrants Rehiring and Relocation Programme or Rehiring Programme in the country.
Deputy Minister Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed said the ministry had lodged a police report against a local company which offered such service.
“There have been many cases of fake agents providing such service via advertisements on the Internet and social media. Last week, we made a police report. Many more would be made after this.
“Companies and employers found committing such offences will be charged,” he told reporters at the lobby of Parliament House here today.
Nur Jazlan reminded employers not to be taken in by any company claiming it was appointed by the ministry as a programme agent.
“I am afraid there were employers who believed such agents and were willing to pay thousands of ringgit to obtain illegal immigrant workers,” he said. — Bernama
