JOHOR BARU, March 21 — In what was claimed to be “voices” instructing him to kill his wife, a tailor allegedly slit the woman’s throat with a knife before stabbing her to death with a pair of scissors at their house in Kangkar Tebrau here yesterday.
The victim, who was embroiled in an argument with her husband about 10am, also sustained multiple stab wounds in the body.
The couple’s nine-year-old daughter found the woman’s body in the living room of the family home about 2pm, upon returning from school.
South Johor Baru police chief ACP Sulaiman Salleh said a 35-year-old suspect was arrested to facilitate investigations into the murder.
He said the man was nabbed about an hour later, about 15km from the scene of the crime.
“Initial police investigations revealed the suspect had used a knife to slit the woman’s throat before using a pair of scissors to stab the body several times in the front and back.
“The knife was found wiped clean and placed in the kitchen of the house.
According to the suspect, he claimed to have heard voices, urging him to commit the gory killing.
“The police have remanded the suspect for seven days,” he said in a statement here today.
The body was sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
Sulaiman said the victim was believed to have been embroiled in a quarrel with her husband prior to the murder.
As neighbours thought it was a normal argument between a man and his wife, they did not pursue the matter.
At 2.26pm, the police received a call from the public that a woman was found in a pool of blood. — Bernama
