KUALA LUMPUR, March 21 — The Magistrate’s Court here today fixed May 10-11 for the trial of Malaysian rock singer Awie who is charged with voluntarily causing hurt to his former wife, two years ago.

Magistrate Husna Dzulkifly set the dates after deputy public prosecutor Ahmad Zikri Jaafar told the court that the accused was still waiting for a reply to his letter of representation.

Earlier, counsel Hazman Harun who represented the ‘Wings’ vocalist whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, 48, told the court that the letter of representation was submitted to the Attorney-General on March 18.

Meanwhile, the court also set April 14 for case management pending the attorney-general’s decision on the letter of representation.

On Feb 15, Awie, a father of five pleaded not guilty to voluntarily causing hurt to his former wife Rozana Misbun, 38, at the PNB counter in Jalan Tun Razak here at 3 pm on June 2, 2014.

On March 7, the Ampang Magistrate’s Court acquitted Awie of voluntarily causing hurt to Rozana at a house in Taman Ukay Bistari, Ukay Perdana, Hulu Kelang after they agreed to settle the case with Awie paying a RM10,000 compound and tendering an open apology to the victim. — Bernama
