KUALA LUMPUR, March 16 — The attack by Umno leaders and party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak against backers of the Citizens’ Declaration clearly indicates that the campaign to unseat the prime minister has gained significant traction, DAP’s Lim Kit Siang said today.

“The response to it shows that Najib is shaken,” Lim told a press conference at DAP’s headquarters.

“From what I have seen, this declaration is resonating among Malaysians,” he added.

A fortnight ago, Lim along with former political foe Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and 43 other individuals from both sides of the political divide signed the declaration to denounce Najib’s leadership.

“Najib must give serious consideration to this declaration,” Lim said.

Earlier today, Lim brought together 10 more individuals to sign the declaration, including fellow DAP members, lawyers and academicians.

The new signatories include national laureate A Samad Said, lawyer Tommy Thomas, and constitutional expert Abdul Aziz Bari.
