KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 ― PAS Youth is hoping to lure the “untapped” segments of the country’s most promising voter population with a good, clean snooker tournament at the end of this month.

In a Facebook posting today, the wing’s treasurer Muhtar Suhaili As-Sarawaki said the tournament, named the PAS Youth Chief Snooker Cup, will be paused at intervals for Muslim players to perform their obligatory prayers.

In a bid to stay “Shariah-compliant”, he said alcoholic drinks or betting will be prohibited from the premises too.

“There are no elements of gambling here. The fees that are charged is for hall rental and equipments,” he wrote in the Facebook statement.

However, cash rewards await the winners. The top four winners stand to win RM1,000, RM700, and RM350 respectively.

Muhtar Suhaili said PAS Youth will be spending RM3,500 for the programme.

The tournament is scheduled to take place on March 27 at the JK Snooker centre in Taman Desa Bakti, Selayang.

It is co-organised by PAS Youth and the Department of Arts Culture and Science (DACS) and  charges RM50 per individual entry.
