KUALA LUMPUR, March 11 — Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) has made its recommendations for the post of new governor, Tan Sri Zeti Akhtar Abdul Aziz said today, adding that the matter is now up to Putrajaya to decide.

“The governance committee of the bank has made its recommendations. The government will make a decision and submit the names to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” she told reporters after delivering a keynote address at the Wharton Global Forum in Kuala Lumpur today.

Zeti’s 16-year term as governor comes to an end this April.

She said the topic of her successor was also raised during yesterday’s meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

However, she said many other economic matters were discussed during the meeting.

“Yesterday was us giving a briefing before our annual report. We discussed economic policies,” she said.
