ALOR STAR, March 9 — Two contractors were charged in the Sessions Court here today with corruption involving RM135,000.
Nor Azamuddin Ahmad, 47, and Farid Idris Khan, 36, claimed trial before judge Zulhazmi Abdullah to three charges each.
On the first charge, Nor Azamuddin is accused of corruptly receiving RM45,000 from a ‘Datuk’ and owner of a company at No 69, Persiaran KTC 4/3, Kulim Techno City Golf View, Kulim Hi Tech Park, Kulim on May 4, 2014 at 10 pm.
The sum was allegedly an inducement to get a quota of 100 metric tons of ST15 rice for MNS Utara Enterprise and MFM Utara Enterprise for May 2014 from the Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry.
On the second count, Nor Azamuddin is accused of corruptly receiving RM45,000 from the Datuk on June 6, 2014, at the same time and place as an inducement to get a quota of 100 metric tons of the rice for June, 2014.
On the third charge, Nor Azamuddin is accused of corruptly receiving RM45,000 from the same man on July 2, 2014, at the same time and place as an inducement to get a quota of 100 metric tons of the rice for July, 2014.
Farid is accused on three counts of conspiring with Nor Azamuddin in the three alleged offences.
The court set RM8,000 as bail in one surety for each accused and May 3 for re-mention.
The duo was represented by counsel Ang Chun Pun while deputy public prosecutor A. Hafiizh Abu Bakar represented the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission. — Bernama
