KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 — Former Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh is confident the state leadership is capable of settling the political controversy as a result of the motion on the vote of no confidence against Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman, yesterday
“I think they know how to solve it. The speaker must have the right to make the decision (in rejecting the no-confidence motion).
“I was not there yesterday. I don’t know what really happens there. I am only vice chief not even Umno division chief now,” he said simply when met by the media at the Parliament lobby, here.
Idris, who is also Higher Education Minister, was commenting on the action of former Terengganu Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Said who proposed the motion on the vote of no confidence against Ahmad Razif at the Terengganu State Assembly sitting yesterday.
Ahmad, who is also Kijal State Assemblyman, proposed the motion before ending his debate on the Royal address by the Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, on the excuse that there was a conspiracy to tarnish his name in politics and as an elected representative.
However, the motion was set aside by State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong who decided that the motion was made without notice and flouted the State Assembly Standing Orders.
Idris was Mentri Besar from 2004 to 2008 while Ahmad headed the state government from March 23, 2008 to May 12, 2014. — Bernama
