KUCHING, March 6 — Sarawak, like Sabah, will continue to wholeheartedly support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu said the two East Malaysian states would have been much better developed if the “Look East” policy of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had also involved them.

“We are, after all, genuinely and truly east of Kuala Lumpur but we had been seriously overlooked,” he told the media, here, today.

He had earlier launched the National Landscaping Day 2016 celebration on behalf of Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem.

Jabu said Dr Mahathir had only looked up to countries like Korea and Japan in his “Look East” policy.

He said that was why Najib, the current prime minister, had to work hard to implement what should have been done but had not been done.

“Najib is a very focused leader. He really understands what Sabah and Sarawak need.”

Jabu said Sarawak would want to enjoy what Sabah would get and likewise, Sabah would like to enjoy what Sarawak would get.

“We are after all equal partners in the formation of Malaysia in 1963 and should be treated as so.

“So, we will continue to support Najib strongly,” he said. — Bernama
