KINABATANGAN, March 6 — Police arrested an Indonesian man and seized a pistol with seven rounds of ammunition at Ladang Morisem 5, IOI, near here yesterday.

Kinabatangan district police chief A. Sahak Rahmat said, acting on a tip-off, at 3.15pm a team from the Sukau police station conducted an inspection of some bushes at the plantation, which was suspected to be used for drug abuse.

“During the inspection, a 28-year-old man was arrested and a black backpack containing a pistol with seven live bullets was also found.

“The suspect and the items seized were later brought to the Kinabatangan district police headquarters for further action,” he said here today.

He said the suspect, who did not have any personal identification, was being remanded for further investigation, including motive for possessing firearms.
