BINTANGOR, March 6 — Sarawak Chief Minister Tan Sri Adenan Satem wants the people in the Meradong state constituency to support the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate in the coming 11th state election.

“The government cannot help you (completely) unless your elected representative here is from the BN.

“I will make sure the BN candidate who is elected will always work hard for you. If not I myself will knock his or her head,” he said at the Meet-the-people session here today.

The state BN chairman said whoever used the ‘dacing’ symbol at the coming state election is a Sarawak BN candidate.

The Meradong state seat fell to the opposition DAP after the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) was defeated in the ninth state election in 2006.

Adenan said despite accounting for only 40 per cent of the voters, the Bumiputera in Meradong could still determine the victory of the BN candidate for the constituency if they were united.

He also assured that the state government would maintain the land lease period even though it had changed status or divided into sublots. — Bernama
