SHAH ALAM, Feb 27 ― Taman Sains Selangor 2 (SSP2) in Sepang has been rebranded as Selangor Cyber Valley in line with Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Selangor's (PKNS) aim to create a sustainable, green and smart city.

General manager Azlan Md Alifiah said PKNS was confident the development would become an integrated urban growth centre by maintaining the values of harmony and comfort as well as its commercial value in line with its surrounding development.

“We believe that rebranding will be a catalyst for growth for the surrounding areas and make a positive impact on other projects with bigger goals," he said at the SPP2 rebranding ceremony at the Shah Alam Convention Centre yesterday officiated by Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

“At the same time, we are implementing high-speed broadband services for commercial and residential areas, aimed at reducing the digital divide by emphasising the development concept of 'work-live-play'."

Azlan said the project’s gross development value was estimated at RM16.9 billion within the next 20 years.

“The new township is being built on 1,300 acres of land that will house commercial and residential developments. PKNS will also be offering 2,200 affordable residential units under the Rumah Selangorku scheme in stages next year,” he said.

He said Selangor Cyber Valley would be the 11th township built by the corporation.

Azmin said Selangor Cyber Valley would become a state landmark.

“We will ensure that development in this area will include smart city features as it is also strategically located 15 minutes away from KL International Airport and Westport in Port Klang,” he said.

“Additionally, Selangor Cyber Valley can easily be accessed from several highways such as the Elite Highway, South Klang Valley Expressway, and the Maju Expressway.”

Azmin hoped Selangor Cyber Valley would attract new investments and businesses to the state.

He also wanted the project to be a wholesome development.

“In order to build a strong community, I proposed that Selangor Cyber Valley must grow through good moral values, knowledge and education,” he said.

Azmin said his main vision was for Selangor to be the first smart state in Malaysia.

He said “Smart Selangor“ would not be achievable unless the state government provides benefits, including free WiFi, as well as efficient and free public transportation to the people.

“As of now, we have 41 new buses equipped with free WiFi services in certain parts in the state” he said.

At the event, a sale and purchase agreement between PKNS and Brainy Bunch Islamic Montessori was signed to develop an integrated religious school on five acres at the Selangor Cyber Valley.
