SUNGAI PETANI, Feb 25 — A trader has claimed that he was slapped on his face by a policeman near the Kuala Muda police headquarters (IPD) yesterday.
Mohd Faizal Guna Abdullah, 55, claimed the incident happened around 6pm while he was riding his motorcycle along Jalan Ibrahim from his house to town.
“I was about to turn to the right when another man on motorcycle suddenly overtook me and turn to the left. I just let him and continue on my way.
“However, after about 10 metres, he stopped and scolded me, saying I did not know how to ride a motorcycle properly.
“When I responded that he was the one in the wrong for making a sudden turn, he gave me a hard slap on the face,” he told Bernama when contacted today.
He said the man appearing to be in his 20s, who was wearing a T-shirt with ‘IPD Kuala Muda’ printed on it, then left the scene even though some members of the public who witnessed the incident tried to restrain him.
“I immediately lodged a report at the Kuala Muda IPD and sought treatment at a nearby clinic because my face had become swollen from the slap.
“I also understand that the policeman concerned had also lodged a police report saying that I had provoked and hit him,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kuala Muda district police chief ACP Md Zukir Md Isa said the man who allegedly hit the trader was a volunteer reserve corps personnel.
He said the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code. — Bernama
