SEREMBAN, Feb 24 — Age is not the issue for Lee Chong Meng, 68, to conquer the tallest peak in the world, Mount Everest in a solo climbing mission in April.
What started as a recreational activity since 20 years ago, Lee, who was an engineer, became determined to create a personal record via the mission.
“Actually, it started as a weekend recreational activity. I’ve looked after my health since young, and from there I find I have very good stamina.
“So, I continue to endeavour to boost my capability and physical strength by carrying out challenging mountain climbing activities.
“I am keen on such activities and had harboured a dream to climb Mount Everest,” he told reporters here, today.
In 1997, M. Magendran and N. Mohandas emerged as the first Malaysians to step on the peak of Mount Everest followed by Muhamad Muqharabbin Mokhtarrudin in 2004. — Bernama
