KLANG, Feb 22 — A group of masked robbers came off empty-handed, after detaching and dragging an automated teller machine (ATM) for about a kilometre from a guard post near a car accessories factory in Jalan Kebun here today.

Klang Selatan police chief ACP Azman Abdul Razak said the incident, which occurred at 5.26am, was detected by one of the guards who was on duty at the factory.

“The ATM machine was dragged onto the road by a car heading towards the Kesas highway. However, the machine was later found abandoned on the side of the road in front of a flat building in Bandar Putra,” he said in a statement here today.

He said no money was reported missing from the ATM machine.

Azman said police believed more than one person was involved and were tracking them down.

It was learned that the cable used to pull the ATM had snapped in front of the flat building, forcing the suspects to abandon the machine. — Bernama
