JOHOR BARU, Feb 22 — A woman was arrested today to assist investigations into a seditious post, insulting the Sultan of Johor on Facebook.

Johor Baru North police chief ACP Mohd Taib Ahmad said the 26-year-old woman who worked as a guest relations officer, was arrested at about 3am at a parking lot on Jalan Sutera, here.

He said the police pursued the case after it received a report from a man from an NGO at the Kempas police station here, at 8.53pm on December 15.

“In the report, the man said he had read insulting comments against the Sultan of Johor on the issue of vape, in a Facebook post by ‘Chinta Fina’, while at a food stall in Taman Putra, here, at 8.15pm, the same day,” he said in a statement.

According to Mohd Taib, the woman will be remanded until Thursday to facilitate investigations under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948. — Bernama
