PDRM to recruit 9,000 police officers this year

MELAKA, Feb 15 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will be recruiting 9,000 officers and men this year to fill existing vacancies and of those retiring.

Its Director of Management Datuk Pahlawan Zulkifli Abdullah said 3,000 staff would be retiring this year while there were 6,000 vacanies for various posts.

He said the intake was important to ensure the force had adequate staff to meet the demands of the people.

"However, the size of the intake will depend only allocations obtained by PDRM and were negotiating with the Home Ministry on the matter," he told reporters here today. 

Earlier, he had witnessed the handing over of duties ceremony between outgoing Melaka police chief Datuk Chuan Ghee Lye and Datuk Ramli Din. Chuan has been appointed Deputy Director (Strategic Planning)of the Crime Prevention and Community Policing Department at the Federal Police Headquarters (Bukit Aman). — Bernama
