KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — Traffic has started to build up on the major highways as more people head back to the Klang Valley following the Chinese New Year break.
A Projek Lebuhraya Utara Selatan Bhd (PLUS) Traffic Control Centre spokesman told Bernama that traffic had started to slow down on the North-South Expressway from both the north and south since 11.30am and that the situation was expected to get worse for the rest of the day.
“In the north, there was traffic congestion from Sungai Perak to Jelapang, Jawi to Bandar Baharu, Seberang Jaya to Juru and Bertam to Sungai Dua in Penang and Bidor to Slim River.
“In the south, the situation was the same from Senawang to the Port Dickson exit, Nilai to Bandar Ainsdale and Senai to Kulai,” he said.
Meanwhile, a spokesman of the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) said traffic was congested from Bentong heading to Kuala Lumpur on the East Coast Highway.
“Other than that, traffic is still smooth on the East Coast Highways 1 and 2,” she said.
