JOHOR BAHARU, Feb 6 — The Indian community generally is now returning to support the MIC following Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam taking over the presidency, said MIC Vice President Datuk M Saravanan.

He said since Dr Subramaniam was elected as the party’s leader, any programme organised by MIC had received overwhelming support at the grassroot level.

“This shows a positive development and we will continue to gain back the support until it is successfully done,” he told reporters after launching a Ponggal Festival organised by MIC Johor and Arulmigu Raja Mariamman Temple at Jalan Ungku Puan, here today.

The Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports said the party had it own approach to gain much more support and was confident MIC would regain the backing of Indian youths.

“We are adopting various approaches to regain support from the younger generation including via economic, education and sports aspects to ensure they are on a par with the other races,” he said. — Bernama
