KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — An engineer with a government-linked company may face police action for threatening to “bomb” Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s residence after a report was lodged over the man’s posting on Facebook.

According to a Malaysiakini report, the same posting was screen-captured and circulated on popular messaging application WhatsApp.

“I will shake Kuala Lumpur and the Malaysian prime minister’s residence with a bomb explosion this Saturday because Najib is causing the rakyat hardship,” it said.

After sighting the threat, activist Mohd Ali Baharom, a leader of the red shirts movement, lodged a report with the Dang Wangi district police headquarters this morning, the news portal reported.

“This is a serious matter as it can threaten public security around Kuala Lumpur and also the security of the prime minister’s family,” Mohd Ali said in the report, according to Malaysiakini.

The police report was reportedly made available to the press.

In the report, Mohd Ali noted that the threat came less than a month after the Jakarta bombings.

After the bombings, Malaysian police were put on high alert.

It is understood that the posting has since been deleted and the Facebook account disabled.

Mohd Ali urged the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to trace the individual for further investigation.
