TAIPING, Feb 2 — Six men were fined RM1,600 each by the Magistrate’s Court here today after they pleaded guilty to betting in cockfighting in Kampung Air Kuning, Changkat Jering last Sunday.

Magistrate Mohamed Ruhizat Abdullah ordered the six, aged from  33 to 57, to be jailed six months if they failed to pay the fine.

All were charged under Section 7(2) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.

Police arrested the six men and a 15-year-old boy at the village at 5.30pm on Sunday (Jan 31).

The boy however was let off with a warning. — Bernama
