KAJANG, Feb 2 — The Magistrate’s Court here today set March 22 for mention of the case of three men accused of kidnapping a five-year-old boy for a RM300,000 ransom in October last year.

Magistrate Abdul Jalil Salam Muhamad set the date after deputy public prosecutor Amira Abd Aziz informed the court that the prosecution was still waiting for the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ order to transfer the case to the Shah Alam High Court.

Printing company operator, Siow Kek Keong, 44, Indonesian labourer Riduansyah Yahya, 32, and lorry driver Mohd Saifulamry Jarkasi, 28, are accused of illegally confining the son of a contractor.

They were charged with committing the offence in front of house No.4, Taman Setia, Sungai Chua, here at 9.26am on Oct 9, 2015.

They were charged under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code which carries the death sentence or life imprisonment and whipping, if convicted.

No pleas were recorded from all accused as the case is under the purview of the High Court.

Siow was represented by counsel J. Jayarubbiny, Riduansyah by counsel Wong Kar Hung and Mohd Saifulamry by counsel Mohd Fadhly Yaacob. — Bernama
