Racial diversity in Sabah not a challenge for harmony, says CM

KOTA KINABALU, Jan 23 — Sabah’s continued efforts in showcasing the racial and cultural diversity of its people clearly shows that differences are not challenges to live peacefully and harmoniously.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said such efforts enabled the people to get to know and respect other ethnic groups in the state so that they could accept such differences as a strength to remain united.

“We in Malaysia, especially in Sabah, always practised mutual respect among one another.

“So we must continue this culture from time to time so that we can live in peace and harmony,” he told reporters after officiating the Dragon, Unicorn and Lion Dance Festival in conjunction with Chinese New Year here today.

Musa also commended the United Sabah Chinese Communities Association of Kota Kinabalu for organising the festival, which was being participated by the  Bumiputera community.

He said the participation of the various ethnic groups clearly showed the feeling of belonging and kinship that existed among the people in Sabah. — Bernama
