KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 — Fed up with misreports on its alleged link to Israel, DAP clarified today the identity of the man behind the rumours.

“We wish to state unequivocally that Mohamed Razali bin Abdul Rahman, the former DAP member who is alleging that the party is supported and financed by Israel, has NEVER held any positions in the DAP National headquarters nor the Penang headquarters,” it said it a statement.

The federal opposition party also asserted that Razali was never a special assistant to Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng or a staff member in the latter’s office “in any capacity”.

According to the statement, Razali joined DAP in 2008 and was subsequently sacked in 2011 after accusing the party of a ‘Christian plot’ to take over Putrajaya.

“Razali’s so-called ‘position’ in the party was completely conjured up by pro-UMNO/BN blogs and portals.

“We hope that this clarification on Razali’s identity and status will be helpful to the media in their reporting of news and that there will be no more misrepresentation of his relationship with the DAP or the Penang CM,” the statement concluded.

Razali is said to have perpetuated the rumour that DAP was offered RM1.2 billion in exchange for an Israeli military base in Port Dickson if it won the next general elections.

DAP has been accused of consorting with the country’s enemies and repeatedly pressed by its critics to come clean on the Israeli allegation.

Malaysia has no diplomatic ties with Israel.
