KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — Umno veterans have been advised to endear themselves to the people by organising social programmes and activities to empower the party.

Umno Veterans chairman Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali, in giving the advice, said the 600,000 Umno veterans had a role to play in helping the Barisan Nasional to win the next general election, especially by forging cooperation with the younger generation.

“Umno veterans must focus on the young, many of whom have yet to register as voters, and use their wide experience to draw the support of these people.

“At the same time, the young people can help the veterans to use the latest information technology applications such as WhatsApp, Twitter, Facebook and others to disseminate correct information about the government,” he told Bernama on the sidelines of the Umno Veterans Malaysia general assembly attended by 700 delegates.

Tajol Rosli said the Umno veterans could thwart the accusations and allegations hurled by irresponsible people via the social media platform to slander Umno and the BN. — Bernama
