Charity outfit's employee pleads not guilty to wrongful confinement

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — An employee of a charity organisation pleaded not guilty at the Selayang Magistrate’s Court here today to conspiring to abduct and wrongfully confining a Bangladeshi labourer, last month. 

Salina Karim, 51, was charged with conspiring with three other men in committing the offence against Salim Tageiaahamad (rpt: Salim Tageiaahamad), 24, in Kampung Melayu Batu 16, Rawang, Gombak, Selangor, at 12.30pm on Dec 26. 

Salina, who was unrepresented, was charged under Section 365/109 of the Penal Code which provides for jail up to seven years and fine, if convicted. 

Magistrate Asyida Abd Rahim@Ibrahim allowed Salina bail at RM6,000 in one surety and also warned her not to approach the victim or prosecution witnesses.

The court set February 17 for re-mention. Deputy public prosecutor K. Vasugi appeared for the prosecution.  — Bernama
