KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 8 — The son of an Australian actress who made her name in a 1990s television serial has been reunited with his father after a fierce custody battle here.
The Star reported today that the mother of Neighbours actress Eliza Szonert handed over the boy, seven-year-old Griffin Crick, to his paternal grandparents last Friday at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
The Melbourne actress allegedly abducted her son from Ashley Crick, a businessman now based in Malaysia, at a restaurant in a popular mall in Kuala Lumpur on December 10.
Various media outlets previously reported that she had gone to the restaurant with two men from an agency called Child Recovery Australia.
Szonert’s parents had reportedly been caring for the boy during the 22 days he had been taken by the actress, and that the family had moved between various hotels to avoid detection.
The actress had been detained by police here over the abduction.
Szonert previously claimed that she took her son here to visit Crick, but alleged that she was kicked out of the apartment without her passport or child after a dispute.
