Police says body of last victim of Belaga boat capsize found

SIBU, Jan 7 — The body of the last victim in a boat capsize in Long Buyun, Belaga on Dec 22, has been found at about 7.30 am, today. 

Belaga police chief DSP Melay Tingom said the victim, Sumitasen Thomas, 15 was found by residents of Rumah Tanjung in Sungai Jumalat, a tributary of Batang Belaga, about 10km from the incident location.

“The remains of the victim were brought to Bintulu Hospital for post-mortem,” he said when contacted here today. 

Three other dead victims, Adriana Rosnah, 12, Sahirza Mahir, 31, and Nur Amirsha, 4 were found by search and rescue teams last month while Liam Kelilit, 50, Bungan Nyaleng, 50, Agnes Liam, 33, Olivia Ploma Thomas, 8 and Ayu, 4 were rescued at 7 pm on the incident day. 

The nine boat passengers were said to be travelling from Belaga for a holiday at Rumah Tanjung. — Bernama
