GEORGE TOWN, Jan 7 ― The DAP today described the PAS allegation that the former had received RM1.2 billion from Israel as a malicious slander to incite hatred against non-Muslim leaders.

Its secretary-general, Lim Guan Eng, said he had never met or exchanged greetings with Israeli leaders in Singapore or elsewhere.

"I do not understand why the DAP has been associated with Israel. I have never met or exchanged greetings with Israeli leaders. I ask PAS to provide proof of that," he told reporters after 24 members of the Penang City Council took their oath of office here.

Ten of the councillors are from the DAP, eight from PKR, two from Amanah and four from NGOs.

Lim, who is Penang chief minister, was commenting on the allegation by PAS research director Dr Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki that the DAP was offered RM1.2 billion by Israel if it won the 13th general election held in 2013.

Mohd Zuhdi reportedly said that one of the conditions of the offer was to establish an Israeli military base in Malaysia should the DAP come to power at the federal level.

Lim said he would take legal action against PAS in the matter. — Bernama
