KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — The wife of a 49-year-old man in Perak had to ring up the fire brigade to help send her 180kg husband suspected of suffering a heart attack to the hospital for emergency treatment instead of calling for the ambulance.
According to a spokesman from the Meru Raya Fire and Rescue Department which came to the rescue, it was because the man was too big to fit into a regular ambulance.
“The man’s wife had called the fire station at about 11.47am to seek our help to get her husband to the hospital as he could not walk and could not fit into an ambulance.
“He was having difficulty breathing, possibly due to a heart attack,” Rusdi Mohd Radzi from the fire department’s operations unit was quoted as saying by The Star Online today.
An eight-man team sent to the man’s home in in Taman Chemor Impian, Ipoh reportedly had to lift him into the fire truck with a carpet before sending him to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital.
