KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 30 — The Ex-Policemen’s Association of Malaysia (PBPM) has denied issuing VVIP cards which purportedly give holders certain privileges.

The association had not issued such cards to members, said its president, Dr Hassan Yusoff when commenting on an advertisement on the sale of VVIP cards by a syndicate.

“VVIP cards for lifetime honorary members are priced at RM4,990 for locals and RM5,990 for foreigners, while VVIP cards for associate members are priced at RM1,990 for locals and RM2,490 for foreigners,” he told reporters here today.

Hassan said the syndicate had used PBPM’s name to sell the so-called VVIP (Very Very Important Person) cards at high prices.

“The syndicate advertised the sale of VVIP cards on blogs and Facebook, claiming the holders will be spared of summons, immigration and other offences.” He said the fraud was discovered after some foreigners came to PBPM’s office to file a complaint on the VVIP cards on Dec 21.

“I believe the syndicate’s agents are active at the Putrajaya Immigration Office as they target foreigners with permit problems.

“Our branches in six states have made police reports on the syndicate and hope the police take immediate action,” said Hassan.

PBPM has also received complaints of sacked members collecting donations and claiming to be the association’s president and deputy president.

On Monday, PBPM lodged a report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters. — Bernama
