KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 ― MIC should resolve its current internal issues inside of a month, former party chief Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu said today.
He also said it was normal for democratic groups to have internal strife on occasion, but was confident that the differences will be resolved with time.
“When I took over (as party president), it was like this but I went down to see division and branch (chiefs) and made them important as that is the most important thing to do (as a new party president).
“But I think all internal problems (in the party) will be resolved within three to four weeks as these sort of issues usually don't last long,” he told a news conference.
He then declined comment on former MIC treasurer-general Datuk R. Ramanan’s claim that he was asked to “bring down” Datuk Seri G. Palanivel as party president.
Ramanan, who was expelled from MIC, alleged that he had been instructed by Datuk Seri S. Subramaniam to overthrow Palanivel.
Ramanan also claimed he was promised a top position in the party if he was successful.
He claimed rejected the offered post, but did as instructed to embarrass Palanivel for the good of the party and Indian community.
