KUALA LUMPUR,Dec 8 ― Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today criticised aspiring US Republican party presidential candidate Donald Trump over the latter’s call for his country to ban Muslim visitors.

Tengku Adnan, who is Umno secretary-general, said Trump’s remarks in response to a shooting spree last week by two Muslims whom US authorities said were radicalised, were unwarranted.

“That one also, I don't understand Donald Trump, what is he trying to do. But he shouldn't come out with that sort of statement,” he said when met by reporters after officiating a Puteri Umno ceremony at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.

He said it was likely that Trump was attempting to gain political mileage with the stance,

Trump yesterday called for a complete shutdown of Muslims entry to the United States “until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on.”

Trump’s statement followed the massacre last week of 14 people in San Bernardino, who were shot by alleged Muslim radicals.
