KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — Hundreds of passengers were left stranded at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 after several pilots for budget carrier AirAsia reported in sick, according to The Star Online.

The news portal quoted AirAsia CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes as saying that at least 12 pilots were down with flu.

This caused the cancellation of some flights, while others were delayed, forcing passengers to spend the night at the airport.

The Star Online added that while most affected flights were local, an international flight reported to have been cancelled was to Bangkok’s Don Meuang Airport.

Things then took a turn for the worse after the flights were re-timed.

Some passengers were initially informed that they would be moved to other flights but in the end these plans were also cancelled.
