SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 — PKR deputy president Azmin Ali today urged the media not to keep portraying him to be in conflict with party president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
During his winding-up speech at the PKR congress here, Azmin said that he has been loyal deputy to the wife of PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“If you see media reports, it says Azmin goes here while the president goes elsewhere. Don’t try to pit me against the president,” he told the PKR delegates at the IDEAL Convention Centre today.
“As the deputy president, I will follow and respect all decisions made by the party and the president. Don’t try to cause a fight; don’t be Utusan and TV3,” he said referring to the Umno-linked Utusan Malaysia newspaper and TV3 station.
Azmin during his speech also said the media has the “power to bring about change” and will be able to influence how the public votes for political parties.
Dr Wan Azizah was PKR’s sole nominee to be Selangor mentri besar after Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim was forced to resign last year, but Azmin was eventually appointed to the post after his name was put forth by PAS.
