KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 28 — Batu MP Chua Tian Chang will be the next lawmaker to be called in by the police for allegedly facilitating the meeting between PKR’s Nurul Izzah Anwar and Sulu “princess” Jacel Kiram, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said today.
He added that Nurul Izzah, who was questioned by the police at Bukit Aman yesterday, will be investigated under Section 124L of the Penal Code which covers attempts to commit sabotage against the government.
The national police chief did not, however, state if Chua, who is better known as “Tian Chua”, will also be investigated under the same provision.
“She came and gave her statement. Next, we have to call Tian Chua and we’ll continue with the investigation,” he said briefly during a press conference at the Malaysian Police Training Center this morning.
Yesterday, Nurul Izzah was quizzed for two hours over the photographs of her and Jacel that have triggered uproar here, especially in Sabah.
Jacel is the daughter of Jamalul Kiram III, the self-styled Sulu “sultan” who ordered the invasion of Lahad Datu in Sabah in 2013. During the skirmish with the over 200 Sulu gunmen from the sultanate, 10 Malaysian security personnel died.
Sabah leaders and several others here in the peninsula have accused Nurul Izzah of being insensitive by associating herself with “sultan” Jamalul's kin, some even suggesting that the lawmaker may have committed treason.
On Thursday, the Sabah legislative assembly voted in favour of a motion to ban Nurul Izzah and Chua from entering the state.
