KOTA BARU, Nov 28 ― Kelantan Umno is confident it will wrest the state from PAS in the coming 14th General Election, said Kelantan Umno Liaison Body Chairman Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.

Mustapa said this was based on several major factors including the split in PAS during the party's general assembly recently as well as the outcome of several national issues which also affected Umno.

“Today, we find that there are PAS members who want to be with DAP resulting in the formation of the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) and there are also those who are still loyal to the party.

“In addition, we know that there are several national issues which affect Umno but we are confident that efforts are being made to resolve them by next year,” he said after launching the closing ceremony of Umno Convention 2015 here today.

Also present were Kelantan Umno Liaison Body Deputy Chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, its secretary Datuk Hanafi Mamat as well as Information Chief Datuk Md Alwi Che Ahmad.               

The two-day convention which began yesterday saw a gathering of more than 2,000 Kelantan Umno delegates. ― Bernama
