KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 27 — Datuk Richard Morais wants his brother Charles Suresh found and arrested over allegations the latter made regarding their sibling’s recent death in a statutory declaration (SD) released to the media earlier this week.

Speaking to Malaysiakini, Richard reportedly labelled Charles Suresh a “national criminal” who he said should be arrested under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.

The news portal also reported that Richard urged the police to track down his brother, whose lawyer Americk Sidhu confirmed earlier today has returned to the US.

“I believe... and you must quote me, if he has run away, ‘Datuk’ (Richard) is going to speak to the prime minister to extradite him,” he was quoted in Malaysiakini as saying.

“I am going to use my connections to extradite him back to the country... he is still a Malaysian.”

The news portal added that Richard plans to lodge a police report against Charles Suresh tomorrow.

On his reasons for claiming the remains of the siblings’ murdered brother, deputy public prosecutor Anthony Kevin Morais, when there were plans to have a second post-mortem conducted, Richard reportedly said it was because he did not want the matter to be further delayed.

“I couldn’t take it anymore, his body was lying there (in the mortuary) for 70 days because of you (Charles).

“It was embarrassing to keep Kevin’s body there for so long based on your (Charles’) judgement. You don’t own Kevin. We all don’t own Kevin. He is already dead, we should have cremated him a long time ago,” he was quoted saying.

Richard also denied that he had not been close to Kevin before the latter's death, claiming the latter had named him in his will but not Charles Suresh.

“This shows that whatever he (Charles) says doesn’t have substance at all, isn’t it?” he reportedly told the news portal, before adding that he will reveal the will to the media soon.

In his 18-page SD signed on Wednesday, Charles Suresh said that Kevin had before his death sent him a pen drive with contents that “clearly and unequivocally reveal the investigations Kevin had been tasked with just before his untimely death which implicate certain personalities who currently walk the corridors of power in Malaysia”. Charles claimed the pen drive is currently in the US for safekeeping and also said in the SD that Kevin had informed him prior to his death that he was working on a case involving some powerful individuals.

He also alleged that his brother was likely killed because he knew too much about those in power.

Yesterday, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar reportedly said Malaysian police will ask Charles Suresh to disclose information in his hands and will contact him through his lawyer if he has left for the US.

Kevin’s body was found hidden in a cement-filled oil drum in Subang Jaya 13 days after he was abducted en route to his Putrajaya office from his home on September 4.

At the time of his death, Kevin held the post of deputy head of the Attorney-General’s Chambers’ trial and appellate division.
