404 flood victims still remain at evacuation centres in Perak

IPOH, Nov 27 ― A total of 404 flood victims from 109 families are still at evacuation centres in Perak as of yesterday evening.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Yahya Madis said they are being sheltered at four relief centres.

Fifteen people from four families from Kampung Ali Kalang, Bagan Serai are being sheltered at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Merah;, 133 victims from 31 families from Kampung Changkat Lobak, Kampung Permatang Tengah are Parit Air Hitam are at Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Lobak.

Meanwhile, 117 people involving 36 families from Batu 38 and 40 Kampung Beriah and Parit Abu Hassan are at Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Merah while 56 flood victims from 16 families in Hilir Perak are still at Sekolah Kebangsaan Changkat Jong, Teluk Intan.

Eighty-three people from 22 families who were victims of a mudslide  Kampung Padang Serai, Pengkalan Bharu, Pantain Remis are still sheltered at  Sekolah Agama Rakyat Kampung Padang Serai.

In Sarawak, Limbang Civil Defence Department officer Subuh Posa said 107 families were still being sheltered at Dewan Masyarakat Medamit, Limbang.

He said all the floods victims were from Kampung Hulu Medamit and that floodwaters in the area were subsiding.

In Kuantan, Pahang Civil Defence Department director said all flood victims at evacuation centres in Lipis and Raub had been allowed to return to their homes after the situation returned to normal in the two districts.

In Kota Kinabalu, State Education Department director Datuk Jame Alip in a statement said 33 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates from SM St Paul in Beaufort had to sit for the papers at SMK Beaufort after their school was inundated by floodwaters.

He said all of them were from the Science stream who had papers to sit today.

The schools has 137 SPM candidates overall. ― Bernama
