JOHOR BARU, Nov 26 — Johor has a new police deputy chief ... and it’s a woman.

Datuk Aishah Mohammad made history today, becoming the first woman to have been appointed to the post.

The 59-year-old native of Pontian takes over from Datuk Ismail Yatim, 60, who retires on Saturday.

The handing-over of duties ceremony which was held at the Johor police headquarters here was witnessed by state acting police chief, Datuk Ramli Hassan.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Aishah, who was previously Bukit Aman deputy director of management (human resources police division) said she was determined to introduce measures in the state police force to improve the quality of service.

She has been in the force for 40 years. — Bernama
