KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 ― DAP's Liew Chin Tong today told Putrajaya to remove all the special advisors assigned to the prime minister, claiming that they each earn higher salaries compared to full-fledged Cabinet members.

The Kluang MP said some the special advisors are even afforded the same perks as those holding ministerial positions, including having up to eight officers and assistants.

Liew said it was “wrong” for the federal government to simply create such posts as advisors to the prime minister and grant them salaries that exceed what ministers earn.

According to the List of Posts 2016, the special advisor to the Prime Minister for Women and Social Development Affairs earned around RM27, 227.20 in a month.

Comparatively, the prime minister and deputy prime minister earned RM22, 826.65 and RM18, 168.15 respectively.
