SIBU, Nov 24 — Mukah police are examining the footage of a closed circuit television (CCTV) to identify the suspects in the murder of a businessman in Selangau, 76km from here last Friday.
When contacted here today Mukah District Police chief DSP Jimmy Panyau said initial investigation revealed the suspects involved were believed to be foreigners.
The victim Yak Bee Ming, 52, was in front of a poultry farm when he was approached by more than one suspect at about 8.30pm.
A scuffle broke out between them in which the victim was slashed with a sharp object which caused his left hand to be almost severed.
The police rushed to the scene at about 10.30pm after being informed by members of the public.
The victim was confirmed to have died at about 12.10am by a medical officer from the Selangau health clinic.
According to Jimmy, the victim was believed to have brought cash of about RM4,000 with him at the time of the incident.
The case is investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. — Bernama
