SINGAPORE, Nov 23 — A 34-year-old Malaysian woman was charged in court today for voluntarily causing grievous hurt, leading to the death of a 76-year-old retiree in Yishun over the weekend.

Court documents stated that Woo Mui Mee had used a paper cutter to inflict incise wounds on Mr Wong Keng Woo’s left forehand at about 10pm last Saturday.

The police were called to the scene at Blk 114 Yishun Ring Road shortly after, while the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were activated at 10:55pm.

A trail of blood was found along the common corridor. After forcing their way into the second-storey flat, the SCDF pronounced the victim — believed to be Woo’s landlord — dead at 11.38pm.

Woo remains in remand until her next hearing date on November 30.

If convicted, she could be fined, jailed up to seven years, caned, or dealt with a combination of all three. — TODAY
