KUANTAN, Nov 23 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) expects the process of declaration of assets by the Pahang Mentri Besar and state executive committee members (excos) to be completed by year-end.

Pahang MACC director Datuk Zainul Darus said it would take some time to complete because it involved, among others, meticulous information such as the date of ownership of the property for declaration.

“Some of them are excos for two to three terms and this will certainly require more time,” he told reporters after attending the Information and Dialogue Programme with the Pahang Federation of Chinese Associations here yesterday.

However, Zainul said the MACC was not setting any deadline as the declaration was voluntary.

On August 25, Pahang Mentri Besar, Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob announced the line-up of 10 state excos, state secretary, legal adviser and financial officer would declare their assets to the MACC.

The move was a sign of commitment to fight graft and strengthen integrity to awaken public awareness on the dangers posed by corruption. — Bernama
