SERI KEMBANGAN, Nov 22 — DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) expressed regret today over the Selangor government’s decision not to acknowledge the new federal opposition pact, Pakatan Harapan.
DAPSY chief Teo Kok Seong said the decision by Azmin Ali’s administration made it look as if the sacrifices by Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) leaders, who had been defending the now defunct opposition pact Pakatan Rakyat (PR), were not appreciated.
“They were forced to leave PAS based on strong and clear principles,” Teo said in his opening speech at DAPSY’s national congress 2015 here.
“So, it’s PKR’s and DAP’s responsibility to defend and to help them,” the Rasah MP added.
Amanah was established by Islamist progressives who quit from PAS following an acrimonious party election and is part of Pakatan Harapan, the new pact that replaced PR that disintegrated this year due to infighting.
Azmin, who is also PKR deputy president, reportedly said last month that a Pakatan Harapan government in Selangor was unnecessary, noting that the PKR supreme council had resolved to work with all opposition parties, including PAS.
