KUANTAN, Nov 12  — Cleaning up work in the landslide area at Km 52.4 Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway was completed at 3.20am this morning.

The expressway concessionaire, Anih Berhad in a statement, said however the routes remained closed to all traffic until further notice due to safety factors.

It said up till now, only vehicles that are stranded between Selesa Hillhomes and Bentong Toll Plaza are permitted through the expressway.

Meanwhile Bentong police chief Supt Mohamed Mansor Mohd Noor this morning confirmed the Gombak-Bentong old road was also impassable because of landslides and fallen trees at several locations.

“Motorists who wish to travel from Gombak to Bentong are advised to turn back and not go through this way as cleaning work is going on at the moment,” he said.

The landslide near Lentang-Bukit Tinggi at 6.30pm yesterday caused some sections of the expressway from both directions to be impassable but no loss of life was reported.

Only three cars and a lorry were stranded in the affected area. — Bernama
