GEORGE TOWN, Nov 12 — Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng today condemned the reported death threat made against the wife of former PAS vice-president Datuk Husam Musa, and urged for action both from the Kelantan government and the police.

Although the reason for the threat has yet to be established, Lim suggested that it could be linked to Husam’s recent criticism of the Kelantan PAS-led government for allowing a plantation firm to clear 4,500 hectares of forest reserve land.

“All he did was to expose the plans to clear permanent forest reserves in Kelantan and now his wife received a death threat yesterday,” Lim said.

"We hope the police will investigate this thoroughly and find the culprits behind this," he added.

Media reports said today that Datin Rohana Abd Rahman received a death threat through a text message, and that Husam has lodged a police report on the matter.

Last month, Husam issued a statement warning the Kelantan state government against going ahead with allowing the clearing of the forest reserve land.

Husam, who is the Salor state assemblyman, has been criticising Kelantan’s PAS-led state government of late.

He has also been criticising PAS and recently, accused party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang of wanting to work with Umno to form a unity government in Selangor.
