KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 5 ― Malaysia is expected to achieve 100 per cent high-speed broadband (HSBB) penetration rate in another three years, Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia Datuk Jailani Johari said.
“In the next three years, we will be able to increase the bandwidth of 20 per cent to 100 per cent, from four or five megabits per second to 20 megabits per second,” he said when winding up debate on the Supply Bill 2016 for the ministry at the Dewan Rakyat sitting tonight.
Jailani also said 400 telecommunication towers were built across the country this year in the government's ongoing efforts to improve quality of mobile telecommunications.
A total of 600 more telecommunication towers are scheduled to be built in stages until 2017, he added.
The sitting continues tomorrow. ― Bernama
